REPORTING AN ABSENCE WHEN YOUR CHILD IS NOT AT SCHOOL
What do you have to do? When do I have to report it?
Woodside Reporting an Absence, 925-689-7671 Woodside Elementary
- Call our 24-hour hotline, (925) 682-8000, ext. 7755 OR email woodsideattendance@mdusd.org OR send your child with a note.
- Please give your child’s full name, date or days absent, teacher’s name, and why absent (sick, medical appt, vacation, funeral)
- Report absence within 72 hours. Absences not cleared will become unexcused absences.
- Unless you have a doctor’s note excusing multiple days, every absence must be reported to the school as they occur.
Tardies
- School begins at 8:05 AM
- Students are expected to line up in their lines when the bell rings. Late students must go to the office for a tardy pass. Tardies over 30 minutes late require a valid excuse such as a medical appointment or illness. Traffic, waking up late, or not wanting to come to school are unexcused.
Early release from school
- If your child needs to leave school early, then only someone on the emergency contact list with a photo ID can pick up your child.
- Your child must be picked up from the office, signed out, and not picked up from the classroom.
MDUSD has an attendance policy district-wide that is progressive to address attendance concerns, Every School Day Counts! If your child is struggling with attendance, you may receive a letter addressing tardiness, unexcused absences, excessive absences requiring medical verification, and invite you to school and district-based meetings to help partner with your family. A SART is the School Attendance Review Team and a SARB is a district School Attendance Review Board.
